Founded: November, 1966
Areas of expertise: Responding to 911 emergency calls, Inter-facility transports, Advanced Life Support, Wheelchair and Stretcher transportation.
The Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad was founded in 1966. In the beginning, we were only able to provide Basic Life Support, and ran a one ambulance fleet. Over the years our organization has dramatically grown.
Since then, we now have the capabilities of providing 24/7 Advanced Life Support, along with Basic Life Support. Our fleet has gone from one ambulance, to four fully equipped Advanced Life Support ambulances. We have also expanded our organization to provide wheelchair and stretcher transportation with our DOT hydraulic lift ambulettes.
Not only do we provide emergency care for 9-1-1 calls, but upon a surrounding hospitals request we are able to provide inter-facility transports out of hospitals to improve patient care, and transport patients to receive advanced or specialty care.
Our Mission is to provide compassionate, professional healthcare to those we serve in the safest and most efficient manner possible.
To enhance the quality of life of those who live, work, play and visit within the boundaries of our ambulance service area by providing the highest quality and most timely emergency medical care possible.
