Gouverneur Rescue is recognized as a reliable 911 emergency ambulance service and a trusted provider to the 516 square miles and several communities that we cover. Gouverneur Rescue's Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics that arrive on scene are trained to rapidly administer care, coordinate with surrounding departments, communicate with medical control physicians, and transport patients to the most appropriate health care facility. Most people are not aware that not all ambulance transports call for the use of emergency lights and sirens. Most of our patients require ambulance transportation on a non-emergency basis for medically necessary, predetermined transports between hospitals and other health care facilities. The most frequent hospitals and facilities we transport out of include Gouverneur Hospital, Canton-Potsdam Hospital and Clifton-Fine Hospital. Recently, there has been an increased demand for emergency and non emergency transports and the following options we provide allow Gouverneur Rescue to meet the demand.

Attention All Clients: St. Lawrence County has switched to a new system to schedule wheelchair and stretcher transportation for clients covered by Medicaid Only. When calling advise them on when and where you need to go for your appointment, and let them know you wish to use Gouverneur Rescue as your preferred transportation service. We are able to bill some insurances directly. If you do not have insurance, or have a question about your insurance, we will be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
*If you do not have medicaid, in most cases, this does not automatically mean your insurance company will not cover wheelchair and/or stretcher transportation's. If you require further information about your insurance company please contact us.
